Equality and Diversity

Through working with us, you can explore how and why discrimination happens, while raising awareness of the current principles of discrimination legislation. Through our training we challenge attitudes towards Equality and Diversity, with the aim of raising cultural awareness. We believe that the route to implementing and embedding Equality and Diversity in organisations is to start with the personal, and to work with participants to help them to realise their own values, attitudes and beliefs and how they might impact on others.

We can provide training which will help you to carry out Equality Impact Assessments (EQIAs) on all your policies and practices. We can also provide one-to-one mentoring and support to those who have responsibilities for carrying out EQIAs.

Testimonial

Dr. Moira Shemilt provided a good value, high impact service for City of Glasgow College. Following an initial meeting, Moira devised a two day Equality & Diversity Action Planning Workshop to progress our Action Plan and Single Equality Scheme. In attendance were approx 20 staff from across the College, at various levels. With Moira's expert knowledge and skills, the workshops were genuinely engaging and participative and we met our targets. These workshops were the catalyst to gaining buy-in from across the college. I would not hesitate in using Moira's services again!

What is Equality?

Equality is about “creating a fairer society, where everyone can participate and has the opportunity to fulfil their potential”.
It is about identifying patterns of behaviour based on group identity and challenging processes that could limit people’s potential health and life chances.

What is Diversity?

Diversity is about recognising, valuing and celebrating difference. It is about understanding the benefits that diversity can bring to organisations and communities. It is about developing policies, procedures and practices which are inclusive and non-discriminatory.

We have delivered many development sessions to all levels in many different organisations. Our sessions are interesting, informative and fun.
